Notate Pitches in Treble Clef

This assignment is designed for you to take the initial steps in using a notation program. We recommend using MuseScore for this.

If you are using MuseScore, we highly suggest watching these two MuseScore tutorials before starting this exercise: Setting Up Your Score and Note Input (first 30 seconds only)

  • Info and Instructions:
  • You need a title centered at the top of the score, the text of the title is up to you.
  • Your full name should be placed in the composer field, below and to the right of the title.
  • You need a single staff with a treble clef. A 4/4 time signature would be nice, but is not required.
  • Use quarter notes for the rhythmic value if you can, but any value is fine, you will not be graded on rhythm.
  • Notate the following pitches on the staff in order: E D C D E E E ~ D D D ~ E G G ~ E D C D E E E E D D E D C.

Note: the tilde "~" is just placed to help separate the letters here, it does not need to be notated. Although, if you want to, try a quarter-note rest in each place you find it.
  • When using a notation program for one of these assignments, you will need to export your score as a PDF. Most notation programs will have an "Export as PDF", or "Print as PDF" option. If it doesn't, consider changing programs. Once you have your score saved as a PDF, upload it to the assignment in your course. Here are instructions for exporting a PDF in MuseScore. And here are instructions for exporting a PDF using Flat.io.
